SciSys Group Overview

SciSys provides its solutions through five businesses, four of which are market-focused divisions: Government, Environment, Media & Broadcast and Space. The fifth is our cross-sector Applications Maintenance and Support Division. Each is responsible for business development within its respective markets and for the delivery of the work which it secures. Our underlying strategy is to ensure that our solutions can be adopted and adapted across divisions utilising the expertise within one division for the benefit of the Group as a whole (see diagram below).

Integration of Marine Systems and Components

What we offer:
SCISYS has been developing electronic architectures for military vehicles for over 10 years. During this time we developed SEAFTM, an integrated electronics architecture for managing a wide variety of hardware and associated software.
SCISYS used SEAFTM to design and implement a new SIMS (Systems and Information Management System) for the RNLI’s latest class of all-weather lifeboat, the Shannon class.
Unlike many electronic architectures, SEAFTM is not closely integrated with any specific hardware – all the component parts can be replaced with matching or new components from any supplier. This allows legacy and new devices to be integrated progressively which often suits the needs of marine systems where a step change is not always possible. This flexibility is possible due to the underlying software architecture that allows hardware and software components, even network types, to be replaced and updated without affecting the other parts of the system.
This means that changes and advances in hardware can be accommodated, giving a secure basis for through life support of the class. Additionally it means that advances in technology and the evolving business remit can also be accommodated. Furthermore the SEAFTM components used for a particular vessel can be re-used in other classes and vehicle types.
